The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Mining Systems Principal to join our Digital Technology & Services division at our Head Office. This senior role will drive the strategic direction, integration and continuous improvement of mining and business systems across MinRes, helping us achieve our ambitious technological and operational goals.

You will combine technical expertise with strategic vision, collaborating with senior business leaders, technical teams, and key stakeholders to develop and deliver cutting-edge, scalable solutions. Your work will directly influence investment decisions, drive system performance, and foster efficient, agile, and future-ready operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Technical Leadership:

  • Own technology investment decisions and ensure innovative, business-aligned solutions across the mining systems portfolio.
  • Direct design, development, and integration of enterprise systems, resolving complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Diagnose systemic issues, champion new technology investments, and refine application architecture in partnership with architects.

Business-Driven Solutions:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit requirements and deliver tailored digital solutions driving automation and efficiency.

Operational Management:

  • Optimise systems and services, proactively address issues, and steer the adoption of next-generation technologies.
  • Act as principal technical liaison throughout project lifecycles, supporting agile delivery and integrated, cross-functional solutions.
  • Undertake site visits to inform solution design with operational insight where needed.

Technical Leadership & Integration:

  • Lead on mining systems integration, mentor technical teams, and orchestrate legacy and contemporary systems for streamlined operations.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Drive transparent engagement, informing and aligning senior leaders and stakeholders with project pipelines and technical direction.

People & Team Culture

  • Act as a senior member and an influential leader within the Projects team, fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
  • Empower team members through knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and advocating continuous learning and growth.
  • Actively contribute to change management, championing the adoption of new services and features across business units.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders and technical peers. Act as a trusted adviser to senior management on systems strategy and future development.

About You

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in technology systems, application architecture, project management, and operations—ideally within large-scale mining or related sectors.
  • In-depth understanding of technology governance and strategic alignment with business needs.
  • Direct experience with mining applications and system integration.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Proven ability to engage with and influence senior business stakeholders.
