About Onslow

Our Onslow Iron project is set to redefine mining in Western Australia through world-first autonomous road trains, industry leading dust free transport and innovative transhipping.

Taking shape 150 kilometres east of Onslow, the project will ship around 35 million tonnes of iron ore per year and is expected to have a mine life of more than 30 years.

The project encompasses the Ken’s Bore mine (approximately 150km from Onslow), Truck Maintenance Facility and Onslow Port infrastructure.  

 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Superintendent Haul Infrastructure, the Road Maintenance Engineer will support the operational performance and upkeep of the Onslow Iron Haul Road and infrastructures, as well as other roads within the Onslow Iron Project. This is a key role providing second-in-charge support and relief cover for the Superintendent Haulage Infrastructure across various rosters.

This role based on a 4D 3RR 4D 3RR 8D 6RR FIFO roster.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical support in the operation and maintenance of the haul road, infrastructures and other roads, including investigating failures, monitoring deterioration, arranging or conducting necessary testing through internal teams or external contractors, and implementing interventions and remediation works.
  • Provide technical support in the development and implementation of autonomous haulage operations.
  • Administer and maintain data within Asset Vision, our asset management software, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Prepare, issue, and sign off completion of work packs for both the internal road maintenance crew and external contractors.
  • Manage interfaces related to road maintenance contracts including approval processes, LAP, mobilisation, contractor safety requirements, and liaise closely with other operational teams; provide both technical support and contract administration as required.
  • Step up as required to cover duties of the Superintendent during rostered leave or rotation.

 

What is required?

  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in road maintenance and/or construction, preferably in mining or large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Sound practical knowledge of civil and pavement engineering, asset management systems and contract management.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and management.
